MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Mulerider Women's Tennis is back in action and back within regional play this weekend, as the Blue and Gold will head up to Fort Smith, Arkansas for a Sunday morning match with the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions at 11:00 AM.
Southern Arkansas enters the Sunday matchup after playing a four-day stretch at home, while also playing five matches in six days. SAU ended the home stretch with a 2-2 record, now bringing the Muleriders to 4-6 overall on the year and 1-1 in regional play.
At line one for the Blue and Gold's singles matches,
Jolina Mass, a freshman from Germany, recorded a 2-1 record with one pairing going unfinished. Mass earned her two wins in regional outings against Emporia State's Yuliya Klimova (6-1, 6-3) and Northwest Missouri State's Miru Nonaka (7-5, 6-0).
In doubles play, Southern Arkansas went 2-2, as the group earned points against Southwest Baptist and Emporia State.
UAFS comes into the match with a 2-6 record, as the group has dropped its last three outings to Texas Wesleyan (2-5), Mississippi College (0-7), and Northwest Missouri State (1-6). With the most singles wins this season for the Lions, Arianna De Bernardo leads the pack with a 4-4 record, with all being at line one singles. The pairing of Gracie Pereff and Antonietta Bocache has been the Lions' strongest doubles group, as the unit has gone 4-2 overall at line two doubles.
