RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference has announced its Week Nine Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, and claiming the honor of Player of the Week is the Van Alstyne, Texas local, Kelsie Adams.
 
The senior had herself a very impressive week on two different softball diamonds last week, as Adams and the Muleriders played a midweek outing in Paris, Texas, against the Midwestern State Mustangs and the unit's three-game GAC series at Henderson State.
 
For the week, Southern Arkansas went 4-1, sweeping Midwestern State and taking two of three in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. In the five outings, Adams was 7-for-16 at the plate with a .438 batting average, six runs batted in, five runs scored, a double, three dingers, 17 total bases, and a slugging percentage of 1.062.
 
The Texan had an incredibly impressive showing in the Muleriders series opener against the Reddies on Friday (Mar. 27), with the right fielder going 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and four batted in off a double and a two-run homer, scoring half of the Blue and Gold's runs in the game.
 
With the honor, Adams becomes just the second Mulerider to be named the league's player of the week for this campaign, while being the fourth weekly honor for Team 28 thus far.
 
The Muleriders come back home for this week's three-game series against the Harding Lady Bisons. The series will begin with a 6:00 PM game on Thursday (Apr. 2), followed by a 1:00 PM start on Friday (Apr. 3) for the series doubleheader.
