KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Southern Arkansas' own Jonas Sommer has been named the MIAA/GAC South Division Athlete of the Week presented by ClassicCourt
 
Sommer had a very successful two matches against Emporia State and Northeastern Oklahoma State.
 
Against Emporia State, Sommer and his doubles partner Uwe Diehl (7/-) defeated the Hornets duo of Anton Sarunic and Luke West (28/-) by a final of 6-3 at line one in route to the team capturing the early lead winning the doubles point. He then went on to win his singles match at line four singles in dominant fashion winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 over Duvan Santiago Torres.
 
In the match against Northeastern Oklahoma State, the duo of Sommer and Diehl were the only Mulerider duo to win a match in doubles play taking their match 6-3 at line one. Jonas then went on to be a pivotal part of the Mulerider rally as he won his singles match at line four in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 fueling the Muleriders to comeback and win the match over the Riverhawks.
 
Over the course of two matches, Jonas was 2-0 in doubles play and 2-0 in singles play.
