Muleriders Fall in Midweek Against Reddies

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (16-9, 11-4 GAC) fell in Arkadelphia, Arkansas tonight to the Henderson State University Reddies (13-11, 5-10 GAC) by a final score of 5-3. The loss marks their first midweek loss of the year.
 
The Muleriders struck first in the top of the first inning as Wyatt Fielding singled into center field scoring Luke Noack who walked to lead off the game, 1-0. The Reddies knotted the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first plating one run as the two headed to the second all square. Wyatt Fielding collected his second RBI of the game in the top of the third inning this time with a single into left field to score Noack as SAU retook the lead, 2-1. The Muleriders extended their lead in the top of the sixth inning as Ayden Slott stole second and Jacob Lang stole home to put SAU up 3-1 after the top of the sixth. HSU did not score for five consecutive innings as Stetson Bishop worked into the seventh inning before being pulled as the Reddies threatened. HSU scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to pull within one but after seven complete SAU still led, 3-2. A scoreless top of the eighth for the Muleriders saw the momentum swing to the Reddies side as they plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 5-3 as the Muleriders were down to their last three outs. The top of the ninth saw some traffic on the base paths for the Blue and Gold but the offense was unable to score as the Reddies took the midweek win.

The Muleriders will be back in action this weekend as they head to Weatherford, Oklahoma for a three-game series against Southwestern Oklahoma State University. First pitch of the series is set for 12:00 PM on Friday.
