Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Tennis team earned their second conference win of the year to start 2-0 in MIAA/GAC conference play over the Northeastern State Riverhawks today at the Live Oak Tennis Courts by a final score of 5-2.
The Muleriders fell into an early hole after losing the doubles point.
Uwe Diehl and
Jonas Sommer were the only Mulerider duel to win their doubles match as they defeated the Riverhawks duo 6-3 at line one.
Lucas Nitzschke and
Frode Neumann fell at line two 5-7 while
Balsa Djokovic and
Taiki Minamino fell at line three 3-6.
Needing a comeback in singles play to win the match the Muleriders dominated singles play securing five of the six available points.
Lucas Nitzschke defeated James Edley at line one singles in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 7-5).
Frode Neumann won his match at line two over Alexander Edley in straight sets (7-5, 7-6) while
Jonas Sommer defeated Tomas Aramburu at line four in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).
Uwe Diehl kept the momentum rolling for the Muleriders at line five winning over Baptiste Linet in straight sets (7-5, 6-4) followed by
Andreas Seidel defeating Manuel Brunengo at line six (7-5, 7-5). The only singles loss for SAU was at line three as
Balsa Djokovic fell to Mansur Khajimuradov in three sets (7-5, 6-7, 3-10).
