Mulerider Men Cap off Weekend with Sweep Over Statesmen

Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Tennis team capped off their weekend with a 7-0 sweep over the Delta State University Statesmen today. The Muleriders finished their weekend 2-0 with sweeps over Delta State and Southwest Baptist while also winning their exhibition match against Cowley County Community College 7-0.
 
Action got underway for the men today on a beautiful day today as the Muleriders looked to finish their perfect weekend in their home opening matches on the Live Oak Tennis Courts on the Campus of Southern Arkansas University. Doubles play began today with the Muleriders winning the doubles play to take an early lead in the match. Jonas Sommer and Uwe Diehl won at line one handily over Marti Cerda Castillo and Millimaci by a final score of 6-2. Frode Neumann and Lucas Ntizschke then clinched the doubles point at line two winning their match 6-3 over Simon Ojeda and Valentin Greco. Balsa Djokovic and Taiki Minamino did not finish their match at line three as SAU had already clinched the point.
 
Singles action then got underway as Lucas Nitzschke defeated Simon Ojeda in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) at line one. Frode Neumann then defeated Simon Ojeda in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) at line two to give SAU a 3-0 advantage. Balsa Djokovic won his match at line three over Valentin Greco in straight sets (6-2, 7-6) followed by Jonas Sommer winning at line four over Marti Cerda Castillo also in straight sets (6-4, 6-1). Uwe Diehl then reverse swept Alejandro Bravo at line five after falling in the first set he then came back winning the second set and third set in a super tiebreaker (6-7, 6-0, 13-11). Shun Wakino completed the perfect day for the Mulerider men at line six winning in straight sets over Valentino Milimaci (6-3, 6-2).

The Mulerider men will return to action, concluding their four game homestand on Wednesday, March 4th against Northwest Missouri State University on the Live Oak Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
