Muleriders fall to Savage Storm

MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Mulerider Women's Basketball (10-11 | 6-9 GAC) looked for a bounce back game while at home inside the W.T. Watson Center for a Saturday matchup with the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (10-11 | 7-8 GAC). Despite a strong showing in the majority of the first half, Southern Arkansas was bested by the Savage Storm, with the group from Durant, Oklahoma winning 76-50. 

Kennedy Moss led the Muleriders in scoring with her 12 points. Moss was 5-for-11 from the field while also going 1-for-3 from beyond the arc. 

SAU opened the game with a strong offensive start, scoring 19 points in the first quarter while holding Southeastern Oklahoma State to 17. SAU jumped out early with multiple three-point shots in the opening minutes, which included back-to-back threes and put the Muleriders ahead by as many as six in the period. Southeastern Oklahoma State responded with a pair of inside scores to trim the margin, but SAU maintained the lead throughout the quarter and finished it up 19–17.

In the second quarter, SAU's offense slowed, producing 10 points while Southeastern Oklahoma State scored 18. The Savage Storm went on a run that erased the SAU lead and created separation before halftime. At the break, the score was 35–29 in favor of Southeastern Oklahoma State, with SAU trailing by eight at intermission. 

During the third quarter, SAU managed 7 points while Southeastern Oklahoma State put up 25. After three quarters, SAU trailed 60–34 with Southeastern Oklahoma State extending its lead significantly.

In the fourth quarter, SAU scored 14 points and Southeastern Oklahoma State scored 16. The game concluded with a 76–50 final score, with SAU's scoring spread across all quarters but outpaced by the Savage Storm in each period except the first.

Southern Arkansas will head on the road to Arkadelphia for a Monday outing against Henderson State, as the Muleriders and Reddies will make up their postponed contest due to the icy roads preventing competition.
