Men’s Tennis Starts Spring 2-0

| Box Score 2 DALLAS, Texas – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Tennis team started the season spring season off the right way going 2-0 on the day defeating Weatherford College and the University of Texas at Dallas in two matches today.
 
Weatherford College
The Muleriders took match one of the day by a final of 4-2. The day started with SAU winning the doubles point as Uwe Diehl and Jonas Sommer played at line one and one their doubles match 7-6. Frode Neumann and Lucas Nitzschke fell at line two 6-2 but Taiki Minamino and Balsa Djokovic clinched the doubles point for the Blue and Gold at line three winning their match 6-2.
 
Singles then began and Lucas Nitzschke fell 2- 3 (6-3, 6-4, 6-2) at line one. Jonas Sommer played at line four for the Muleriders winning his match in straight sets (6-3, 6-2), Uwe Diehl played at line five falling in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 1-6), Shun Wakino then won his match at line six in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Balsa Djokovic clinched the match for the Muleriders at line three winning in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-3). Frode Neumann played at line two for SAU but did not finish due to Djokovic clinching the match.
 
UT-Dallas
The Muleriders began their second match of the day with momentum after defeating Weatherford College. The match began with doubles as the Mulerider men swept the doubles matches to win the doubles point and jump out to a lead. Uwe Diehl and Jonas Sommer defeated Benjamin Dubois and Matheus Zanellato at line one 6-2, Taiki Minamino and Balsa Djokovic defeated Juan Luis Aguirre and Edward Shteyn 6-1, and Shun Wakino and William Von Pongracz defeated Eduardo Paston and Ronav Aviur 7-5.
 
The singles portion of the match then began and eventually saw the Muleriders complete the sweep over the Comets. Lucas Nitzschke defeated Juan Luis Aguirre 2-1 (6-7, 6-2, 1-0). Balsa Djokovic defeated Benjamin Dubois at line two winning 2-1 (6-2, 5-7, 1-0). Jonas Sommer defeated Edward Shteyn 2-0 (6-2, 6-2) at line three. Line four saw Uwe Diehl win in straight sets 2-0 (6-3, 6-0). Line four saw Shun Wakino defeat Eduardo Pastor 2-0 (6-0, 6-0) followed by Andreas Gabriel Seidel defeating Ronav Aviur in straight sets 2-0 (6-2, 6-1).

The men will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, February 7th in Dallas, Texas as they match up with Cameron University. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
