MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The reigning Great American Conference regular season and tournament champions are back in action, as the Mulerider Women's Tennis team heads to Dallas, Texas, for matchups with the University of Texas-Dallas (Feb. 6 | 1:00 PM), Texas A&M-Kingsville (Feb. 7 | 10:00 AM), and Angelo State (Feb. 8 | 11:00 AM).
Entering the Spring campaign, Southern Arkansas was voted the preseason number two team in the Great American Conference with 19 total points and two first-place votes. The group was only placed behind Harding by three points, as both had two first-place votes. For the Mulerider Women, the group returns one member from last season's 2025 GAC Championship-winning team, as
Roksana Kokocha returned for her junior season with the Blue and Gold.
The last time out for Southern Arkansas was at the 2025 GAC Individual Championships in Searcy, Arkansas. Coming back for the Spring season,
Taylor Conway comes off winning an individual Great American Conference title while at the Individual Championships.
Southern Arkansas will take on three members of the Lone Star Conference from Friday to Sunday, as the Muleriders will begin the new campaign against one of the LSC's newest members in UT-Dallas. Last season, the Comets capped off the 2025 campaign with a 4-8 overall record for their first season in NCAA Division II. On the Players to Watch list released by the LSC, UT-Dallas had Katia Robinson and Presley Churchman named amongst the league's 22 individuals listed. Southern Arkansas will take on the Comets at 1:00 PM on Friday (Feb. 6).
Coming off a 12-8 season with an LSC record of 6-4, the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas will match up with Southern Arkansas for a 10:00 AM start time on Saturday (Feb. 7). Last season, the Javelinas made it to the Lone Star Conference tournament but came up short in the quarterfinals round to UT-Tyler by a 4-1 final score. Among those same 22 individuals listed for the LSC's Players to Watch, two Javelinas were named to the listing, with Guadalupe Tocci and Andrea Landaeta being highlighted for TAMUK.
To wrap up opening weekend for the Muleriders, the Blue and Gold will take on a familiar opponent in Angelo State for an 11:00 AM first serve on Sunday (Feb. 8). Since 2021, the two units have faced off four times, with the Rams taking three of the four meetings. Last season, ASU defeated the then-ranked 21
st Muleriders for one of the group's 15 wins in their 15-7 campaign. Despite the unit's strong overall record, the Rams missed out on the LSC tournament with a 4-6 record. Angelo State has already begun competition this season with a 6-1 win over Weatherford College last weekend in San Angelo, Texas. Two Rams were named to the LSC's Players to Watch list, with those two being Margaux Rene and Sasa Felixova.
