MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Tennis team began their home stand with a shut-out win over the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats by a final score of 4-0.
The men started the day off strong winning the all-important doubles point as
Jonas Sommer and
Uwe Diehl continued their hot streak winning at line one 6-1 over the Bearcats duo.
Taiki Minamino and
Balsa Djokovic then secured the doubles point at line three with a 6-3 victory.
Frode Neumann and
Lucas Nitzschke fell at line two by a final of 3-6 but the Muleriders still held on to take an early 1-0 lead.
Singles play then began as the Muleriders looked to take care of business quickly.
Frode Neumann wrapped up the first singles win for the Muleriders in dominant fashion winning in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) over Federico Riolo.
Balsa Djokovic then defeated Romain Ramuz in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) as the Muleriders jumped out 3-0.
Jonas Sommer clinched the win for the Muleriders at line four defeating Juani Morresi in straight sets (6-2, 7-6). All of the other pairings did not finish as the Muleriders had already clinched the win over the Bearcats. At the time of conclusion, two of the three remaining Muleriders were winning their matches including
Uwe Diehl at line five (6-2) and
Shun Wakino at line six (2-0). The only Mulerider that trailed at the conclusion was
Lucas Nitzschke at line one (5-7, 5-3).
