Muleriders geared up for four-day home stretch

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Mulerider Women's Tennis (2-4) is back in action and is back at home, as the group gets set for four-straight matches at home. The Blue and Gold are set to take on Southwest Baptist, Cowley County CC (Exhibition), Delta State, and Emporia State.
 
Start times for the next four matches are listed below:
SAU vs. Southwest Baptist | Feb. 27 (2:30 PM)
SAU vs. Cowley County CC | Feb. 28 (2:00 PM | Exhibition)
SAU vs. Delta State | Mar. 1 (11:00 AM)
SAU vs. Emporia State | Mar. 2 (12:00 PM)
 
The Muleriders come off a weekend in Tyler, Texas, where the group finished with a 1-2 record and moved to 2-4 overall on the season. SAU's lone win from the weekend came at the end of it, with the Muleriders defeating the University of Texas at Permian Basin Falcons 5-2. Also during the weekend, Southern Arkansas fell to Lubbock Christian (2-5) and #21 University of Texas at Tyler (1-6).
 
In that victory over the Falcons, the Muleriders started hot with the doubles point swinging their way, as lines one (Taylor Conway/Roksana Kokocha) and two (Jolina Mass/Emilie Senepart) secured the point for the Muleriders. The group then went on to win lines one (Jolina Mass won 6-4, 6-2), three (Isabella Lazzerini won 7-5, 6-2), four (Emilie Senepart won 6-0, 6-2 and clinched the match), and five (Taylor Conway won 6-3, 6-1).
 
Starting with Southern Arkansas' weekend competition, Southwest Baptist enters the weekend at 1-4 and has lost its last two contests. The group's lone win of the season came in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a 4-3 victory over Ouachita Baptist.
 
For Sunday, Delta State has started the spring season with a 5-1 record, in which the unit started the season 5-0 and had not lost until playing #25 Lee University, which ended in a 4-3 final. The group has already swept three opponents, with 4-0 wins against Western New Mexico and UTPB, while also having a 7-0 win against Spring Hill College
 
While not on the weekend, to wrap up the four days of matches, the Emporia State Hornets come into town with a 4-1 record, with which the group started 3-0 and has split their last two outings. ESU's lone loss this season came against Rockhurst in sweeping fashion, as the Hawks defeated Emporia 4-0. The group most recently defeated Southwest Baptist with a 4-3 victory.
