TYLER, Texas – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Tennis team fell today in Tyler, Texas to the UT-Tyler Patriots by a final score of 2-5.
Doubles play began today as
Uwe Diehl and
Jonas Sommer took their match at line one against Carl Wessel and Daniil Felker defeating the Patriots duo 7 (10) – 6 (6).
Frode Neumann and
Lucas Nitzschke fell at line two 7-6 to Artiom Dorofeev and Malo Poulesquen.
Balsa Djokovic and
Taiki Minamino then secured the all-important doubles point for SAU at line three defeating the Patriots Trevor Short and Job Japelj 6-4.
Singles play began and SAU picked up another point as
Uwe Diehl defeated Jordi Garcia in straight sets (6-3, 7-5). From there the Patriots ripped off five singles wins to take the match and secure the victory for UT-Tyler.
Lucas Nitzschke fell at line one to Artiom Dorofeev in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 3-6).
Frode Neumann fell at line two to Malo Poulesquen in three sets (6-0, 2-6, 6-1).
Balsa Djokovic fell at line three to Carel Wessel in three sets (1-6, 6-3, 5-7).
Jonas Sommer fell at line four to Samuel Antwi in straight sets (2-6, 1-6). Finally,
Shun Wakino fell to Martin Despodov in straight sets (4-6, 4-6).
