TYLER, Texas- The Southern Arkansas University Men's Tennis team fell today to the Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals by a final of 2-5 in their first match in Tyler, Texas.
The men began their competition with doubles play as
Uwe Diehl and
Jonas Sommer defeated Mattia Ghedin and Kelly Giese 6-3 at line one. The Chaps then took the other two doubles sets at lines two and three.
Frode Neumann and
Lucas Nitzschke fell to Andres De Los Rios and Pablo Segura at line two 3-6.
Balsa Djokovic and
Taiki Minamino then fell at line three doubles to Andrea Rossi Principe and Hayden Loffler 5-7 as LCU took the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead.
Singles play then began as
Lucas Nitzschke fell to Kelly Giese at line one in straight sets (2-6, 0-6).
Frode Neumann played at line two against Andres De Los Rios and fell in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 6-7).
Balsa Djokovic played at line three falling to Pablo Segura in straight sets (3-6, 0-6).
Jonas Sommer played at line four against Mattia Ghedin eventually falling in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 3-6). The two Mulerider points came from
Uwe Diehl who defeated Andrea Rossi Principe at line five (6-1, 7-6(4)) followed by
Shun Wakino defeating Alexandre Sulpicy in straight sets at line six (6-1, 6-0).
