SAU geared up for weekend trip to Tyler, Texas

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Mulerider Women's Tennis (1-2) heads back out to Texas for three matches against another three groups from the Lone Star Conference. SAU is set for action against Lubbock Christian (0-1), #21 UT-Tyler (3-0), and UT-Permian Basin (0-3).

The weekend's action will begin on Friday, as Southern Arkansas will take on the Lady Chaps of LCU at 10:00 AM. The unit's second match of the weekend, versus 21st-ranked UT-Tyler, will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday. The final match of the weekend will take place on Sunday at 10:00 AM, as the Muleriders will face the Falcons from UTPB.

Nearly two weeks ago, the Blue and Gold began its 2026 spring schedule in Dallas, Texas, where the Muleriders started their season 1-2 with a 5-2 win against UT-Dallas and losses to Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State.

A highlight from that last time out for the Muleriders was Bixby, Oklahoma local, Taylor Conway. The senior finished the weekend with a 2-1 record in singles play, claiming wins in #4 singles against UTD's Namrata Makhija (5-7, 6-2, 1(10)-0(3)) and ASU's Anastasia Melnikova (7-6, 7-6).

For Lubbock Christian, the Lady Chaps started their season last weekend with a lone match at UT-Arlington, in which LCU fell to the Mavericks 2-4. For the Lady Chaps, the unit's match with Southern Arkansas will be the group's second outing of the season.

The Patriots of UT-Tyler have had an impressive start to the new campaign, as the team has begun 3-0, with wins over Central Oklahoma (5-2), Northeastern State (5-2), and Southwest Baptist (6-1). The group enters the weekend as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's 21st-ranked team in the nation.

Still in the hunt for their first win of the season are the Falcons of UTPB, as the unit has begun 0-3, with losses to Southeastern Oklahoma (1-4), Northeastern State (2-5), and Delta State (0-4).
