MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Tennis team is set for their weekend matches in the Lone Star State as they travel to Tyler, Texas, for three matches against Lone Star Conference opponents
The Muleriders will first play Lubbock Christian University on Friday, February 20th at 10:00 a.m., followed by UT-Tyler on Saturday, February 21st at 11:30 a.m. Closing out their trip, the men will play UT-Permian Basin on Sunday, February 22nd at 10:00 a.m.
The Mulerider men recorded a 2-1 overall record in their first action of the spring after defeating Weatherford College 4-2 and sweeping UT-Dallas 7-0 before falling to Cameron University 2-5 in the weekend finale.
One of the bright spots of the weekend was
Balsa Djokovic, as he was 3-0 in doubles play and 3-0 in singles play on the weekend for a 6-0 record playing at lines two and three in doubles play, and line three in singles play.
The Chaps of Lubbock Christian come into the weekend with a 3-3 overall record, picking up wins over Trinity (Texas), Tyler Junior College, and Indianapolis, while dropping contests to Abilene Christian, Washburn, and UT-Tyler. LCU recently competed at the ITA DII National Men's Indoor Championships and went 1-2, with their two losses coming at the hands of UT-Tyler and Washburn.
UT-Tyler comes into the weekend with a 4-1 overall record, picking up wins over Northeastern State, Southwest Baptist, Azusa Pacific, and Lubbock Christian while dropping a game to West Florida. At the ITA DII Indoor Championships, UT-Tyler went 2-1, losing their first game to West Florida, then picking up wins over Azusa Pacific and Lubbock Christian.
The Falcons of UT-Permian Basin come into the meeting with a 1-2 overall record after taking losses to Northeastern State and Delta State but taking home a win over Southeastern Oklahoma State.
