Muleriders Set for First Game of 2026

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (5-6, 2-3 GAC) are set to open their 2026 portion of the schedule against the Harding University Bisons (8-3, 4-1 GAC) on Saturday, January 3rd at 5:00 p.m. in Searcy, Arkansas.

Broadcast Information

Saturday's game will be broadcast on the Harding Sports network and also on KVMZ 99.1 FM with Dan Gregory calling all the cation.

SAU Notables

>>> The Muleriders are coming off two losses to close out 2025 as they fell at home to both Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist inside the W.T. Watson Center. Despite both loses, the Muleriders Jair Horton claimed GAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts. The Senior forward totaled 24 rebounds averaging eight per game, seven steals and seven assists. His week also included his first double-double performance as a Mulerider while also scoring a career high 21-points in the effort. This was the first weekly honor for the Mulerider men.

>>> Greg Moore Jr. continues to lead the team in many categories including, points (163), scoring average (14.8), three-point attempts (68), three pointers made (25), free throws made (40), assists (35), steals (20), and minutes (344). Greg ranks 8th in the league in scoring average, 8th in assists, and 6th in steals.

>>> The Muleriders will begin 2026 trying to snap a two-game losing skid to end 2025. The Blue and Gold will also look to continue the trend of winning at Harding from last season as the Muleriders beat the Bisons last year in Searcy by a final score of 83-79.

>>> The Blue and Gold have seen three double-double performances this season with two coming out of freshman Junior Williams and one coming from Jair Horton. The Blue and Gold will lean heavily on the two forwards throughout 2026 as they continue their pursuit of the GAC tournament.

>>> Troy'reon Ramos is just five points away from 1,000 career points.

HU Notables

>>> Before their game against Ouachita Baptist, the Bisons were riding an eight-game winning streak which included some tough wins against non-conference opponents and a win against Henderson State. The Bisons ended the contest tied for second in the league as SNU also picked up their first loss of the season.

>>> Reggie Webster leads the Bisons in scoring with 134 total points and is averaging 12.2 points per game. Wesley Booker is another leading scorer for Harding with 123 total points while averaging 11.2 points per game.

>>> Booker also leads the team in rebounding with 94 total rebounds averaging 8.3 per game. Booker is second in the league in rebounding. Booker also leads the team in steals (21) and blocks (18).
