MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Mulerider Men's Tennis team narrowly lost 4-3 to the Tigers on their home courts yesterday.
In the doubles action, the senior duo of Lluc Pasqual and Jinsei Tajima fought hard against the nation's No. 5-ranked doubles pairing, but lost 3-6. Despite a valiant effort, both remaining pairs, Mathys Pinoit/Niklas Müller on line two and Frode Neumann/David Wallechner on line three, dropped close tiebreakers, 7-6 (4), conceding the doubles point to the Tigers.
The Muleriders bounced back in singles, with Frode Neumann quickly leveling the match by defeating Elias Lagger 6-1, 6-3 on line three. Uwe Diehl added another point at line six with a convincing 6-1, 6-4 win over Aaron Osmond. Losses at lines one and two brought the overall score to 3-2 in favor of the Tigers with only the seniors left.Â
Tajima fought through a grueling three-set battle at line five, taking down Moritz Buss 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 to tie the match. The final point came down to Pasqual at line four, who fell in another hard-fought three-setter to Yarin Aebi, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 3-6.
The Muleriders now sit at 10-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play. They'll look to bounce back this Friday (April 11) when they travel to Searcy to face Harding with the first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
