MAGNOLIA, Ark. – #39 Southern Arkansas Men's Tennis is set for a key GAC/MIAA showdown at home on Tuesday, April 8, as they host the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist at the Live Oak Tennis Courts with the first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Muleriders enter the matchup with a 10-7 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. Nationally ranked individuals highlight the lineup, with Mathys Pinoit sitting at No. 34 and Tim Fischer at No. 37 in singles. In doubles, the Fischer/Pinoit pairing ranks No. 42, while Fischer and Uwe Diehl are ranked No. 44.
Ouachita Baptist comes in at 10-8 overall and 2-0 in league action, with conference wins over Southeastern Oklahoma and Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Tigers are led by #2 Phil Exner and #62 Ramon Strassmann in singles, while the duo also forms the No. 5-ranked doubles team in the country. The last time the two teams met was in last season's NCAA Central Region Championship, where Southern Arkansas clinched a dramatic 4-3 victory behind a match-winning point from Pinoit.
