MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Mulerider Women's Tennis team continued their strong season with a 5-2 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State, securing at least a share of the Great American Conference regular season title.
Southern Arkansas dropped the doubles point after falling at lines two and three, despite a 6-2 win by Ifigeneia Kafka and Josie Holderbach at line one.
In singles play, battles unfolded across the board. No. 25 Holderbach claimed the only straight-sets win, 6-4, 5-1 (ret.) at line two. Maria Fiacan rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory at line three, while Kafka pulled off a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 comeback at line four.
Senior Honoka Yoshimura clinched the team win with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 decision at line six. At the top spot, Gindl added to the tally with a hard-fought 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 triumph.
With the win, SAU improves to 15-6 overall and remains unbeaten in GAC play at 4-0. Up next: the Muleriders celebrate Senior Day on Tuesday, April 22, against Henderson State.
