SEARCY, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis team continued its dominant run on Friday, April 11, notching their fourth straight sweep, and third consecutive in conference play, with a 7-0 victory over Harding. The Muleriders remain undefeated in Great American Conference action.
Southern Arkansas started strong by claiming wins on all three doubles courts. The top duo of Josie Holderbach and Ifigeneia Kafka edged past the nationally ranked #40 pairing of Roux/Zarate Valdez in a tight 7-6 (5) battle. At line two, Amelie Gindl and Maria Fiacan cruised to a 6-0 win, while Roksana Kokocha and Inna Serpukhova secured a 6-2 victory on court three.
In singles, the Muleriders delivered a gritty performance across the board. At the top spot, #4 Gindl outlasted #12 Alexia Zarate Valdez in a three-set thriller, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Holderbach, ranked #24, followed with a hard-fought 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 win over #47 Karli Roux. Fiacan continued her strong form with a straight-sets victory, 6-2, 6-4, on line three, while Kafka came from behind to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 at line four. Kokocha dominated the final set for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 triumph at line five, and senior Honoka Yoshimura capped off the sweep with a solid 6-2, 6-2 win at line six.
The Muleriders now turn their focus to a key GAC matchup against Southeastern Oklahoma, scheduled for Thursday, April 17, with first serve at 2 p.m.
