Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Mulerider Women's Tennis team kicked off a busy week of six matches with a strong 4-1 victory over Delta State, overcoming extreme wind conditions to secure the win.
After dropping the doubles point, Southern Arkansas quickly responded in singles play. Sophomore Josie Holderbach set the tone with a straight-set victory at the top spot, defeating Elena Palioura 7-6, 6-2 to even out the score.
The Muleriders then gained momentum with hard-fought wins on lines two and three. Maria Fiacan battled past Yasmina Mayer in a grueling three-set match, 6-3, 6-7, 7-5, while Amelie Gindl bounced back from a first-set loss to Maria Caride, sealing a 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 victory to give SAU a 3-1 lead.
Senior Inna Serpukhova clinched the match on line six, delivering a strong 6-4, 6-3 win over Cameron Jacob to secure the Muleriders' first win of the week.
With a packed schedule ahead, Southern Arkansas returns to action on Friday morning (March 7) for a doubleheader against McKendree and Western New Mexico.
