Box Score 2 BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Mulerider Men's and Women's Tennis teams started their spring break trip with a dominant performance by sweeping Southwest Baptist.
The Mulerider Women set the tone early by securing the first point of the match with victories in doubles. Amelie Gindl and Maria Fiacan claimed a 6-4 win on line two, while Roksana Kokocha and Inna Serpukhova mirrored that success on line three with another 6-4 victory.
In singles play, the Muleriders continued their momentum with straight-set wins on the top three courts. Facing ranked competition at line one, #5 Gindl delivered an impressive performance, defeating #43 Paula Ballesteros 6-1, 6-4. Fiacan followed up with a solid 6-4, 6-2 win on line three, while #23 Josie Holderbach sealed the match for the Muleriders at line two with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory.
The Mulerider Men also came out strong in doubles, securing the crucial first point with wins on lines one and three. The #24-ranked duo of Tim Fischer and Uwe Diehl edged out a narrow 7-5 victory at the top spot, while senior Lluc Pasqual and Jinsei Tajima dominated with a 6-0 win on line three.
In singles action, #39 Fischer showcased his dominance on line two with a 6-0, 6-2 win, while freshman David Wallechner delivered a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory on line three. The match-clinching performance came from #51 Mathys Pinoit, who battled through a three-set thriller at line one against #64 Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez, ultimately securing the win for the Muleriders with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 comeback.
The Muleriders will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup against Rockhurst University, scheduled for tomorrow (March 26) at 1:30 p.m. in Kansas City, Missouri.
