MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (10-10, 5-9) will head to Oklahoma with rematches set against the East Central University Tigers (7-11, 5-9) Thursday, February 6th at 5:30 PM and the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm (13-7, 10-4) on Saturday, February 8th at 3:00 PM.
Series History vs. ECU
The Tigers currently hold a 19-12 all-time series lead over the Muleriders. Despite their losing record in the series, the Muleriders are currently riding a three-game winning streak over ECU after sweeping both meetings in the 2023-24 campaign and winning their last meeting in Magnolia by a score of 70-58.
Series History vs. Southeastern
The Savage Storm currently holds a 28-9 all-time series lead over the Muleriders. After sweeping the Savage Storm during their 2023-24 campaign, SAU lost to Southeastern in Magnolia in their most recent matchup by a final score of 64-69.
A Look at SAU
The women are back on the road this week after a four-game home stand which saw them go 2-2 inside the W.T. Watson Athletic Center. The Blue and Gold picked up a win last week over the third-ranked team in the GAC in Oklahoma Baptist by a final score of 58-56 then dropped a double overtime thriller to second-ranked GAC Southern Nazarene by a final score of 87-92.
Tepuaza Chambers had an outstanding week for the Muleriders finishing as the leading scorer in both contests with 19 points vs. OBU and 25 points against SNU. Qua would go on to win GAC offensive Player of the Week honors for her performances against both teams. Against Oklahoma Baptist,
Addy Tremie also scored double-digit points finishing with 14 in the win. The offense was also abundant against Southern Nazarene as four Muleriders finished in double-digit scoring,
Tequaza Chambers (25),
Crystal Ortiz (18),
Marlee Bright (13), and
Addy Tremie (12). Despite the loss, the Muleriders showed that their offensive firepower is more than enough to be at the top of the conference.
Tequaza Chambers leads the Muleriders in scoring with 252 total points and is averaging 12.6 points per game.
Addy Tremie also provides offensive firepower as the second leading scorer with 227 total points averaging 11.4 points per game followed by
Crystal Ortiz with 211 total points averaging 10.6 points per game. Ortiz is also the leading rebounder for the Blue and Gold with 118 total rebounds and is averaging 5.9 rebounds per game.
A Look at ECU
The Tigers are coming off of a 1-1 week in their trip to Arkadelphia last week falling to Henderson State (68-74) then defeating Ouachita Baptist (64-55). Katie Edelen lead the scoring against Henderson with 18-points while Makenzy Herman led the scoring with 25-points against Ouachita.
Katie Edelen is the leading scorer for the Tigers with 254 total points and averages 14.1 points per game. Claira Dannefer also provides offensive firepower for the Tigers with 192 total points averaging 10.7 points per game. Dannefer is also the leading rebounder for ECU with 99 total rebounds averaging 5.5 rebounds per game.
A Look at Southeastern
The Savage Storm are also coming off of a 1-1 week in their trip to Arkadelphia last week defeating Ouachita Baptist 60-47 then falling to Henderson State 62-64. Caitlin Kobiske led the way for Southeastern in the win over Ouachita with a 23-point and 10-rebound double-double. Kobiske also lead the scoring for the Savage Storm against Henderson with another 19-points.
Caitlin Kobisake is the leading scorer for the Savage Storm with 350 total points scored and is averaging 17.5 points per game. Kenzli Warden is the second-leading scorer for Southeastern with 244 total points scored and averaging 12.2 points per game. Kobiske is also the leading rebounder for the Savage Storm with 118 total rebounds and is averaging 5.9 rebounds per game.
