Muleriders Hit the Road for Rematch With Tigers and Savage Storm

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (9-11, 6-8) will hit the road to Oklahoma for rematches with the East Central University Tigers (7-13, 4-10) and the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm (6-14, 4-10).
 
Series History vs. ECU
The Muleriders and Tigers will meet for the second time in the 2024-25 campaign Thursday, February 6th at 7:30 PM in Ada, Oklahoma with the Muleriders looking to avenge their loss to the Tigers just over three weeks ago. After their 70-68 win in Magnolia, the Tigers now hold an 18-17 all time series lead over SAU.
 
Series History vs. Southeastern
SAU and Southeastern will lock horns for the second time this season Saturday, February 8th in Durant, Oklahoma as the Muleriders will look to sweep the season series after their 80-62 win in Magnolia just over three weeks ago. The Muleriders win in Magnolia snapped a three-game losing skid to the Savage Storm and improved SAU's all time series record to 32-29 overall against Southeastern.
 
A Look at SAU
SAU is coming off of a four-game homestand which saw them go 3-1 with a big win over the second ranked team in the GAC Oklahoma Baptist then losing to #21 nationally ranked Southern Nazarene. The men are back on the road for a four-game road stretch kicked off with a trip to the Sooner State this weekend with rematches with East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
 
The Blue and Gold's offense was hitting on all cylinders again against the Bison of OBU. Cael Ray Jr. Had one of his better performances of the year scoring a season high and team leading 22-points and collecting three rebounds while dishing out two assists. Rashad Bishop also scored 12 points in the game as well as pulling down three rebounds. BJ Davis was yet another double-digit scorer for the Muleriders with 11-points, five rebounds, and a team leading five assists. Anthony Igiede recorded his third double-double of the season against the Bison with 11-points and 10 rebounds. Despite their loss to Southern Nazarene, the Blue and Gold had three players record double digit performances as BJ Davis went for a team leading 17-points followed by Anthony Igiede with 14-points, and Jaren Harris with 13-points.
 
BJ Davis still leads all scorers for the Muleriders with 247 total points and is averaging 12.4 points per game. Anthony Igiede is currently riding a hot streak also with back to back double-digit scoring performances and is second on the team in total scoring with 213 total points and is averaging 10.7 points per game. Igiede is also the Muleriders leading rebounder with 109 total rebounds this year and is averaging 5.5 rebounds per game.
 
A Look at ECU
The Tigers are currently riding a four-game losing streak and went 0-2 last week in a trip to Arkadelphia that saw losses to both Henderson State (59-69) and Ouachita Baptist (65-79). Godsgift Ezedinma and Jourdyn Grandberry lead the team in scoring against Henderson State with 16 points each. Godsgift Ezedinma also lead the scoring for the Tigers against Ouachita with another 16-point performance.
 
Bishop Jones is the leading scorer for the tigers with 268 total points and is averaging 19.1 points per game. Nikk Williams is the second leading scorer for ECU with 227 total points and is averaging 12.6 points per game. Williams is also the teams leading rebounder with 121 total rebounds averaging 6.7 rebounds per game.
 
A Look at Southeastern
The Savage Storm are currently riding a three-game losing streak and also dropped both games to Ouachita (58-83) and Henderson (91-92) in their recent road trip to Arkadelphia. Daniel Halldorsson, Landon Condiff, and DJ Dill all led the team in scoring against the Tigers with 11-points each. Five players had double digit scoring performances against the Reddies , Daniel Halldorsson (26), Chandler Dickinson (20), Santiago Camacho Gomez (16), Landon Condiff (15), and Robert Briley (10).
 
DJ Dill is the leading scorer for the Savage Storm with 254 total points and is averaging 13.4 points per game. Daniel Halldorsson is another offensive weapon for the team with 224 total points and is averaging 11.2 points per game. Robert Briley leads the team in rebounding with 139 total rebounds and averages seven rebounds per game.

Next Up
SAU will remain on the road next week as they stay in the Natural State with games against the University of Arkansas-Monticello (2/13) and Harding (2/15).
