MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Southern Arkansas tennis teams are set to travel to Memphis, Tennessee, this weekend to take on West Florida at the Leftwich Tennis Center.
On the women's side, West Florida holds a 2-0 record against Southern Arkansas. The last time these two teams met was in March 2023 in Pensacola, where the Argonauts secured a 5-2 victory. This season, West Florida stands at 1-1 overall, having suffered a loss to South Alabama but bouncing back with a sweep over Montevallo. Junior Carlota Verdu is a key player for the Argonauts, currently ranked #38 in the nation in singles.
The West Florida men's team enters the weekend with an undefeated 4-0 record, having claimed victories over Montevallo, Flagler, Barry, and Washburn. The Argonauts won the ITA National Team Indoor Championship last week, taking down Washburn 4-0 in the final. Senior Albin Ekenros, ranked #43 nationally, was named GSC Player of the Week after his performance at the national tournament, while sophomore Diego Duran is currently ranked #22 in the nation.
The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, February 23.
