LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced its Wilson/NFCA Division II Pitcher of the Week and making her first appearance with the title is
Brinson Rogers.
Rogers claims the honor as the fifth Mulerider in the program's history and the first to do so since March 6, 2019, when Elisa Favela was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Pitcher Week. Along with Favela, Brinson joins elite company as a DII Pitcher of the Week just like former Muleriders such as Hanna Gill (2/27/13), Kaylee Garner (2/10/16), and Victoria Taylor (2/7/19).
While it has been nearly six years since the last nationally recognized Pitcher of the Week honor for Southern Arkansas Softball, the Muleriders also see their first member since Christina Hill (2/19/2020) to earn national recognition for a weekly performance.
The Statesboro, Georgia native, now adding DII Pitcher of the Week to her resume along with a GAC Pitcher of the Week, comes off her weekend in Bentonville, Arkansas at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic. In the invitational, Rogers secured a 0.00 ERA in 20.0 innings pitched, three appearances, and two complete games. She made three starts and claimed victory in each one while not allowing any runs with just 12 hits against 80 batters (.150 opposing batting average). The senior also fanned off 30 batters during the weekend to assist the Muleriders in three of their four shutout triumphs.
