RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference publicized its weekly honors for the softball that included Team 27's
Brinson Rogers as the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Since taking the helm as Mulerider Softball's head coach,
Jason Anderson has now seen 31 Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week honors and has gone every season after his first (2015) with a GAC Pitcher of the Week winner.
Rogers makes her third appearance as the GAC's Pitcher of the Week after the senior's performance in Bentonville, Arkansas for the Alvy Early Memorial Classic. The Statesboro, Georgia descendant started in all three of her appearances (vs. UCM, vs. NSU, vs. ESU) for the weekend and accounted for two complete games and a 3-0 record.
Rogers recorded 20.0 innings played in which she faced 80 batters and allowed just 12 hits (.150 opposing batting average), eight walks, and no runs. The senior did all of that plus added 30 Ks to her season total of strikeouts (39).
Even while faced with multiple runners making it to third, Rogers did not allow a single run all weekend as the Muleriders finished 4-1 at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic and won all four in shutout fashion.
Next Up:
Southern Arkansas has one more tournament trip before returning home as the Muleriders will take part in the Raisin Canes GAC/MIAA Tournament from February 14-16 (Fri.-Sun.).
