Mulerider Volleyball sweeps Ladies for Tuesday road bout

SHREVEPORT, La. — Mulerider Volleyball took the court inside the Gold Dome of Centenary College for a Tuesday night out of conference, and out of division, matchup with the Centenary College Ladies. In need of a win, the Blue and Gold exited Shreveport with just that, as the Muleriders come home with a 3-0 victory against Centenary.

Leading the scoring for the Muleriders was, for the second time this season, freshman Addy Vollmer. The native from Krum, Texas recorded an eight-kill showing with with absolutely no error in the process, doing all of that on just 15 attacks for a .533 hitting percentage, a new career high.

Accounting for a new career milestone for the evening was senior liber Sadie Kabisch, as the Henrietta, Texas native recorded her 1,000th career dig, and now her 1,013th dig after recording 17 for the night.

First Set (W, 25-12)

The Muleriders handled the opening set while on the road. The group came in and jumped to a very quick 10-3 advantage. The Blue and Gold controlled the set from then on, as the group went on to gain as much as a 13-point lead on multiple occasions, such as the final score of the set that was determined off the hand of Courtnee Morgan for a kill off the assist from Kate Schofield

Second Set (W, 25-19)

The beginning of set two had a much different start from the set before, as the groups began the second much closer, with the Ladies even leading at one point, 5-3. The Muleriders did not let it last long, as the group went on a 9-0 run for a 12-5 lead. The Ladies did not go away though, as the unit gained right back up to SAU with a 7-0 run to tie the set at 12-12. Once the groups got tied at 16-16, Southern Arkansas separated themselves from Centenary with an 8-1 stretch to go up 23-17. After a couple of back-and-forth points, the Muleriders won the second set on one of Vollmer's eight kills with the assistance of Hayden Pinard

Third Set (W, 25-17)

While it was a process, the Muleriders eventually gained a large enough lead to of up 11-4 over the Ladies. The group's lead was large enough to eventually put the match away, especially with the help of four unanswered points to go up 20-13. The group went on to cap off the evening with a 25-17 set three win and the team's sixth sweeping triumph this season.
