SAU nearly completes comeback against Savage Storm

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas (7-6 | 2-5) got back into action for game two of its three home game streak as the unit took on the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State (8-5 | 5-2) in a Great American Conference contest between a couple of 7-5 groups inside the W.T. Watson Center.

The first half of the outing was a back-and-forth bout as the Muleriders and Storm had countered each other for each blow delivered to the other up until Southeastern padded on back-to-back three-pointers at the end of the second half to go up 33-39 and entered the intermission with momentum.

The Savage Storm entered the break with momentum and came right out where they had left off as the team had pulled off a 4-20 run during the third period and extended their lead to 37-59. A few free throws by Riley Stanford at the end of the quarter brought the Muleriders back under the 20-point deficit at 42-59.

The fourth quarter belonged to Southern Arkansas as the group sought a complete comeback after being down by as much as 22 points. In the final period of play, the Muleriders did just that as they produced a 20-4 stretch of their own making the deficit just one point at 62-63. Unfortunately for SAU, the Savage Storm tacked on a 2-6 run to close out the contest for their eighth victory on the campaign.
