MAGNOLIA, Ark.- The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (4-8, 1-5) will finish their three-game homestand this week as they play host to the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm (3-9, 1-5) on Thursday January 9th and the East Central University Tigers (4-8, 1-5) on Saturday January 11th at W.T. Watson Athletic Center in Magnolia, Arkansas. Tip-off against the Savage Storm is set for 5:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. against the Tigers.

Series History vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State
The Muleriders hold a 31-29 overall record against the Savage Storm but have lost their last three meetings to Southeastern. The first meeting between the two teams came on November 11th, 1966, a 69-43 SAU win. The most recent meeting between the schools came at the Great American Conference (GAC) tournament in Shawnee, Oklahoma on March 7th, 2024, an 86-94 loss for the Muleriders.

SAU holds a 17-17 overall record against the Tigers of East Central University and have won the last two meetings. The first meeting between the two teams came on November 21st, 1968, a 73-75 loss to the Tigers. The most recent meeting between the schools came on February 8th, 2024, a 73-64 win for the Muleriders.

BJ Davis currently leads the team in scoring with 161 total points and is averaging 13.4 points per game.

The Savage Storm are currently riding a four-game losing streak including an overtime loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State in Durant. In their last time out, the Savage Storm fell to the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State by a final score of 68-74. DJ Dill led the team in scoring with 19 points. Robert Briley recorded a double-double in the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Tigers are currently riding a five-game losing streak with their last loss coming against in-state foe Southern Nazarene by a score of 68-83. Against SNU, Bishop Jones led the team in points with 16 followed by Jourdyn Grandberry with 12. Bryce Woolridge also recorded a double-digit scoring performance with 10 points and led the team in rebounds with five.
Bishop Jones headlines the Tigers offense with 230 total points on the season and is averaging 19.2 points per game. Mark Rucha currently sits second on the team in scoring with 139 total points and is averaging 11.6 points per game. Nikk Williams is the leading rebounder for East Central with 61 total rebounds and averages 6.1 rebounds per game.
