RUSTON, La. - Mulerider Women's Tennis kicked off the 2025 season on Saturday (Jan. 25) in exhibition matches against Louisiana Tech and Louisiana Christian. The Muleriders dropped 2-5 to the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech before sweeping Louisiana Christian 4-0. 

In the first match of the day, the Muleriders lost the doubles point to LA Tech but fought back with two singles victories before the Bulldogs claimed the win. In the second matchup, the Muleriders bounced back strong, easily securing the doubles point and then claiming three singles wins to defeat the Wildcats. 

The 2025 season opener was highlighted by an outstanding performance from sophomore Amelie Gindl, who went undefeated in both singles and doubles. In singles action, Gindl topped Louisiana Tech's Ana Rodriguez 6-3, 6-2, and Louisiana Christian's Ana Sofia Ferrer 6-1, 6-1. In doubles action, Gindl, together with Josie Holderbach, proved their strength as a doubles team and moved past both LA Tech's Rodriguez/Epps and LCU's Cedeno/Principal comfortably with a final score of 6-0 in both matches. Holderbach lost a tough three-set battle against Maria Tsironi from Louisiana Tech but managed to shake back and posted a 6-1, 6-1 score against Raquel Rodrigues (LCU). 

Newcomer Ifigenia Kafka made a strong debut as a Mulerider, showcasing her resilience in singles with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory over Nina Skoric (LA Tech). Partnering with Maria Fiacan in doubles, the duo cruised to a 6-2 win against LCU, before Fiacan followed up with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 singles victory over LCU's Patricia Principal.

The Mulerider Women are back in action in two weeks as they take on Central Arkansas on February 15th.
