MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Mulerider Women (9-9 | 4-8) played host to in-state foe Henderson State (8-10 | 5-7) Saturday afternoon in a contest that both squads needed the victory to improve their chances of making the Great American Conference tournament in March.
The Reddies came out on top in the rematch as the group's first-half lead proved enough to outlast the Muleriders as Henderson State defeated Southern Arkansas 68-75 even after a career day for Plain Dealing, Louisiana native Tequaza Chambers.
Chambers scored a career-high 28 points in the game, making 11-23 from the field and retrieving six rebounds. With her points against the Reddies, Chambers accounted for 44 points on the week.
Tacking on her second-career double-double was Elena Lijo-Rodriguez as the junior recorded the second-most points on the team with 12 and led the game in rebounds with 14 boards. The A Coruna, Spain native was also responsible for a pair of blocks.
Of the team's 18 contests this season, the 75 points allowed to the Reddies was just the Muleriders' fifth game all season in which the group had surrendered 70 or more points in an outing.
