Box Score WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma. — Southern Arkansas (8-7 | 3-6) made the long journey to west Oklahoma to face the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs (8-7 | 4-5) inside the Pioneer Event Center. The Muleriders, looking for a much-needed win to get back on track towards the GAC Tournament in March, fell to SWOSU in a defensive battle that ended in a 47-55 final.
The first period was controlled by the Bulldogs as the group outscored the Muleriders 6-18 and looked as if they were going to have a handle on SAU after the first quarter. That thought was flipped on its head though as Southern Arkansas outscored SWOSU 14-2 in the second quarter as
Chloe Wilbanks accounted for nearly half of her game-leading point total with ten against the Bulldogs to lead a comeback.
However, the comeback was short-lived as Southwestern quickly rattled off a 6-20 stretch to gain its large lead back from the opening period. The Muleriders outscored the Bulldogs in the final quarter of action 21-15, but came up short of a second comeback in the contest.
The Muleriders defense once again proved their worth as the unit allowed fewer than their average points surrendered this season (56.9).
