MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas falls in their series against the Oklahoma Baptist Bison after dropping the rubber match to the preseason GAC favorite on Sunday by a final of 6-3. The Muleriders now move to 21-11 on the season with a 10-7 conference record as they are tied for fourth with Southwestern Oklahoma State. OBU remains the top team in the league with a 14-2 GAC record as well as being 21-9 overall.
Game Three
OBU W, 6-3
Brinson Rogers got the start in the rubber match as she pitched the first 5 innings allowing just three hits, but also conceding four runs, three earned, and six walks. The junior struck out eight of the 26 Bison batters she faced.
Sydney Ward entered for Rogers in the sixth following the junior recording her sixth walk of the day. Ward surrendered just one hit and one walk while also striking out four batters. Oklahoma Baptist tagged on two more runs during Ward's time in the circle, but neither went against the senior as they were unearned.
Muleriders
Jenna Huey and
Haley Nillen both led the SAU batting effort as the two combined for four hits (two each) on both of their three attempts. Nillen recorded one of the Muleriders runs with
Ariana Rolle and
Regan Dillon recording the others.
SAU's three runs came as
Gracie King singled into left field in the second inning to advance Huey to third and Nillen scoring her run. In the third inning, Southern Arkansas claimed the lead at 3-2 after Dillon doubled into left field to score
Ariana Rolle and advance herself to third on a throwing error which she would soon score on a Huey single to left field.
Southern Arkansas out-hit the Bison, but were upended by three errors to credit Oklahoma Baptist two runs.
