#15 Muleriders dispatch pair of nationally-ranked MIAA foes

Southern Arkansas beats #25 Northwest Missouri, #35 Missouri Western to improve to program-best 12-1

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - A near-perfect season continued for #15 Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis as the Muleriders dispatched a pair of nantionally-ranked Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foes on Tuesday and Wednesday from the Live Oak Tennis Courts.

On Tuesday, the Muleriders picked up the squad's eleventh win overall and its fourth against ranked oppostition with a 4-1 win over #25 Northwest Missouri. The following day, SAU edged #35 Missouri Western 4-3 to hand the Griffons their first loss of the season and improve to 12-1 with its fifth victory over a ranked foe.

Against the Bearcats, SAU rallied after dropping the doubles point with singles victories at lines one (Greta Wallin), two (Annika Berrendorf), three (Amelie Gindl) and four (Josie Holderbach) with line six (Roksana Kokocha) holding the advantage at match end. Berrendorf's three-set victory saw her rally from an opening set defeat to top #37 Tessa Kwakernaak.

The win against the Griffons saw SAU use doubles wins by #10 Berrendorf and Wallin at line one and a big line three victory from Inna Serpukhova and Tamiya Lintz to claim what would be a very important opening point.

The Muleriders suffered early losses at lines five and six, but used a victory by Gindl at line three, a win from Berrendorf at number two and a 6-3, 6-2 showing by Holderbach over #72 Cristina Granero Boj at the fourth spot to clinch the match for SAU. Wallin pushed #31 Anya Chavez at the top line.

Holderbach's match-clinching effort over MWSU improved her to 10-0 in singles play this season. Gindl won her tenth and eleventh singles matches and remained perfect as a line three player at 10-0. Berrendorf won her sixth-straight at number two to improve to 11-1. Berrendorf and Wallin moved to 9-3 in doubles action this season.
