Box Score 2 MAGNOLIA, Ark. - Southern Arkansas earned a 7-0 victory over Delta State on Saturday, February 3 inside the Ward Tennis Center in Arkadelphia. Two days later, SAU knocked off Southwest Baptist 6-1 in Arkadelphia.
In an impressive team effort in the season opener, SAU doubles lineup secured three victories, paving the way for the successful first outing. At line one,
Ole Valkyser and
Matthew Tennant demonstrated solid teamwork, clinching a 6-4 win. The intensity continued at line two, where
Pierre Copin and
Tim Fischer battled through a tight match, ultimately triumphing 7-6 (3). The momentum carried to line three, where
Lluc Pasqual and
Adrian Gheorghe delivered a strong performance, securing a 6-3 victory.
In a dominating singles performance, the Muleriders secured victories across all lines. Starting at line one, Fischer triumphed convincingly with a 6-4, 6-4 win. At line two, Valkyser demonstrated precision and control, securing a commanding 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Mathys Pinoit continued the winning streak at line three with a solid 6-2, 7-5 performance.
The dominance extended to line four, where
Frode Neumann delivered a strong 6-2, 6-2 victory. Line five witnessed a flawless performance from Copin, who won 6-0, 6-0. Lastly, at line six, Yanis Mimaud displayed skill and consistency, securing a 6-3, 6-3 win.
In the match with Southwest Baptist, Tennant and Valkyser's strong performance secured a victory at line two with a score of 6-2, but the Muleriders fell short of winning the doubles point as lines one and three faced tough opponents resulting in losses.
SAU showcased exceptional prowess in the singles matches, with all lines delivering outstanding performances. At line one, Valkyser secured a hard-fought victory with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Fischer continued the winning streak at line two, overcoming challenges to emerge triumphant with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
Pinoit dominated at line three, delivering a commanding performance and securing a convincing win at 6-1, 6-1. A determined Neumann battled through a grueling match at line four and ultimately emerged victorious with a score of 6-7(7), 7-6(4), 6-1.
The success continued at line five, where Copin's composure earned him a victory with a score of 7-5, 6-3. Mimaud rounded off the impressive display of talent at line six, overcoming adversity to clinch a thrilling victory with a score of 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.
