Muleriders advance to 5-1 heading into conference play

MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Mulerider Women's Basketball comfortably moved past the Crusaders from Dallas Christian College on Saturday (Nov. 30). Southern Arkansas delivered a dominant performance as they kept the foot on the gas throughout the game and claimed the victory 102-40.

The Muleriders showcased their offensive powers, shooting an impressive 51.2% from the field and controlling the game from start to finish. Addy Tremie led the team with a game-high 17 points, including a stellar 3-of-7 performance from beyond the arc. Ti'Alone Banks was a force inside, scoring 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting and grabbing six rebounds. Crystal Ortiz contributed with 11 points, shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and adding two rebounds. Elena Lijo-Rodriguez and Pashonnay Johnson chipped in with solid all-around games, scoring six and 10 points respectively, while combining for 14 rebounds.

Southern Arkansas' balanced attack saw 13 players contribute to the scoring column. Riley Stanford added 10 points and five rebounds, while Johanna Brockman provided seven points and five rebounds off the bench. Defensively the team excelled with 17 steals, disrupting Dallas Christian's offense throughout the game.

The Muleriders wasted no time displaying their dominance in the opening quarter, shooting an impressive 59.09% from the field. Southern Arkansas showed relentless play on both ends of the court, using their defensive intensity to force turnovers and create fast-break opportunities. Tremie set the tone offensively while attacking the rim. The team's crisp ball movement and high-energy defense stifled the Lady Crusaders, limiting them to just seven points. By the end of the opening quarter, the Muleriders had raced to a commanding 29-7 lead.

The scoring barrage continued into the second quarter, with the Muleriders increasing their shooting efficiency to an incredible 70%. Ortiz and Tequaza Chambers stepped up as key contributors, making timely shots and maintaining the team's offensive momentum. Southern Arkansas's suffocating defense and rebounding dominance left Dallas Christian struggling to find rhythm and the halftime score expanded to 58-18.

After halftime, the Lady Crusaders attempted to regroup and showed times of resistance, but SAU remained unfazed. The Muleriders continued to execute a balanced offensive strategy, with contributions coming from players across the roster. Tremie made multiple three-pointers as the SAU outscored their opponents 29-10 in the third quarter.

The Muleriders ensured their dominance carried through to the final quarter as they held the Crusaders to just 12 points in the final quarter. By the final buzzer, the score stood at 102-40.

Next up for the Muleriders is Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma on Thursday (Dec. 5).
