MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Muleriders came off the holiday break exactly how you'd want to. Southern Arkansas overcame Great American Conference opponent Southwestern Oklahoma State from the beginning as the Muleriders sent the Bulldogs to the pound with an 88-55 triumph inside the W.T. Watson Center. Southern Arkansas cruised to victory due to three quarters with 20+ points while allowing Southwestern Oklahoma State just one. With the win, SAU breaks a four-game losing streak as a perfect way to open up the new year.
With
Adam Collins victory over SWOSU, it marks the first time as conference foes that Southern Arkansas has defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State in consecutive matches. This also marks just the fourth ballgame SAU has scored 80+ points against the Bulldogs since 2011 and the highest amount of points scored against SWOSU. 55 points is just the second fewest points Southern Arkansas has allowed the canines from Weatherford, Oklahoma to score with 53 remaining the lowest back in 2015 when the Muleriders topped Southwestern Oklahoma State 58-53.
TOP PERFORMERS
Diamond Morris tallied her second most points scored this season with 26 followed a near perfect night from the floor (9-10) and a perfect night from three making all five of her attempts. Morris also recorded seven rebounds for a second-highest this campaign.
Addy Tremie was second in scoring with 18 points thanks to her four made three-pointers.
Jessica Clemons led Southern Arkansas in boards with eight rebounds (3 OREB | 5 DREB) on the night.
Tequaza Chambers recorded four steals with each steal resulting in a layup for eight points. The Muleriders scored 30 points off of turnovers after forcing 24 turnovers.
