MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Both Southern Arkansas and Oklahoma Baptist entered the W.T Watson Center looking for a bounce back victory following the Muleriders loss to #5/2 Southern Nazarene and the Bison loss to Arkansas-Monticello.
TOP PERFORMERS
Diamond Morris led the Mulerider offense with a late burst to earn 15 points in the game. The senior knocked three of her seven attempts from three with her first coming in the first period and her final two counting late in the fourth period.
Tequaza Chambers shot five for twelve from the floor to account for ten points while also having four rebounds. Leading the team in rebounds was
Marlee Bright recording a career-high six rebounds. Bright also carried the team in steals as she was responsible for four robberies of the Oklahoma Baptist possession. Southern Arkansas scored 25 points off of the 26 turnovers committed by the Bison. SAU saw 21 points scored off the bench, led by Chambers' ten.
THE GAME
OBU came out on top in the affair after leading by as much as 21 points in the third quarter, despite Southern Arkansas outscoring Oklahoma Baptist 20-8 in the fourth period. SAU's efforts ended up being futile as they fell to the Bison by a final score of 58-63 with a late burst of offensive and defensive power.
NEXT GAME
The Muleriders now fall to 9-7 (4-7 GAC) and prep for Natural State ball again as they are set to travel to Monticello, Arkansas where they will face the Cotton Blossoms of Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday (Jan. 25) at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, Southern Arkansas heads to Clark County where they will matchup with the Henderson State Reddies at 1:00 p.m.
