Muleriders overwhelm East Central on the road for ninth victory

Box Score

ADA, Okla. – Southern Arkansas escaped the Sooner State without a blemish added to its record as the Muleriders overcame Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday followed by their fourth Great American Conference win against East Central in Pontotoc County. SAU was led by three players recording double-digits in scoring with Addy Tremie once again leading the squad with 18 points.

TOP PERFORMERS
Tremie led the Muleriders in scoring with 18 points, bringing her to 188 total points. The Sulphur, Louisiana native also recorded five rebounds (2 ORB | 3 DRB) and shot 2-3 from three and 2-2 at the line. Zykeria Anderson and Diamond Morris each recorded 10+ points as Anderson put up 12 points against the Tigers with a couple defensive rebounds and Morris accounted for 13 points hitting 50% beyond the arc (2-4) and a couple rebounds and assists. Including Tremie, four Muleriders recorded five boards.

THE GAME
Much like the game against Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Arkansas looked to be in a tight matchup against the Tigers in the first quarter after finishing the opening period down 11-14 to East Central. A few fouls and turnovers committed by SAU surrendered the lead to ECU early.

Following the first period, the Muleriders would tighten up and not allow the Tigers to overcome them ever again as they added 30 points to their score with ECU just scoring 15. By halftime Southern Arkansas was up 41-29 with momentum heading into the second half.

In the third period, SAU had a slow beginning to the second half, as they could just score 12 points, while letting up 16 to East Central. Southern Arkansas began to struggle with scoring and committing fouls to slow their game down while also giving ECU opportunities for free points. The Muleriders held the lead going into the final quarter of play at 53-45.

Southern Arkansas went on another offensive tear in the final quarter to extend the lead and solidify the victory for the 'Riders as they added 25 to their point total while giving up 17 to the Tigers. Southern Arkansas' final score in Ada ended up being 78-62 for its ninth win of the season and fourth triumph in conference to now be .500 in the league.
