JOPLIN, Mo. - The Southern Arkansas Women's Golf team finished up regular season competition on Monday and Tuesday at the Virginia Laas Invitational hosted by Missouri Southern in Joplin. The Muleriders placed 13th in the 17-team field with a three-round total of 1,030 on the par-72, 6,066-yard course of the Eagle Creek Golf Club.
The Muleriders posted round scores of 338-346-346 to finish at +58.
Two Muleriders finished in the top 50 of the 91-golfer field.
Emma Hester placed 42nd with a three-round total of 249 which came behind rounds of 82-82-85.
Aubrey Marx improved by a stroke each round shooting 85-84-83 to finish three strokes back of Hester at 252 for the tournament and in a tie for 47th.
Aurea Carlisle placed tied for 62nd after a 54-hole total of 26 at 81-92-88. Carlisle's 81 in round one was the lowest by a Mulerider in the tournament. She was one of ten golfers in the field to finish under par in par-5 scoring with a one-under effort.
Chelsea Chow shot 92-88-90 for a three-round total of 270 and a tie for 77th finish.
Taylor Rich placed 82nd with rounds of 92-88-90. As an individual,
Kelsey Saveall shot 101-96-103.
The Muleriders totaled 93 pars and sank 13 birdies. Carlisle knocked in an eagle, one of eight golfers to do so, on her final hole of the tournament on the par-5 No. 14. Her eagle bumped the Muleriders up to a 13th place finish
Marx led the team with 23 pars and Hester followed with 22. Carlisle recorded 17 pars and Chow added 16 with Rich making par 15 times and Saveall picking up eight.
Hester recorded five birdies, which placed her in the top half of the field in the category, to lead the team. Marx followed with four birdies, while Rich and Carlisle delivered two each. On par-3 scoring, Hester finished at +6.
