MONTICELLO, Ark. – Southern Arkansas took care of business this afternoon in Monticello, earning their first midweek dub of the season in a 17-4 decision against the Weevils. Southern Arkansas Notes

*All nine SAU batters recorded a hit in the Tuesday afternoon contest. Chris Sutton, Brett McGee, Conner Allen and Chris Lyles all recorded stolen bases with Sutton and Allen stealing two each.

*The Muleriders took advantage of a different arm every inning, with three of the seven pitchers holding UAM hitless and five runless. Dawson Hurford began responsibilities on the mound with an inning that saw zero runs, hits and walks. Kaleb Wiznoski followed with his 1.0 inning outing where he allowed one run on two hits while walking one. Chance Bolter's inning saw zero earned runs, two hits, no walks and a strikeout. Landon McAllister dealt two walks, struck out one and allowed just a single hit. Carson Cheek made his Mulerider debut, striking out two while the rest of his line was all zeros. Hayden Hable let up a solo home run in the sixth but followed with three straight strikeouts. Jack Liddell wrapped up efforts from the Mulerider pitching staff with an inning that saw all three batters fanned.

*Richardson scored SAU's first run of the day, making it home on a McGinnis single after beginning the inning with a base knock himself.

*Southern Arkansas chipped away at the Weevil lead early in the fourth before taking the lead for themselves later in the inning. Roubik, the first Mulerider batter of the inning, was hit by a pitch to earn Southern Arkansas an early base runner. Sutton singled and both runners advanced an extra base on the throw, placing Roubik and Sutton in scoring position. The duo advanced on a wild pitch, scoring Roubik and cutting the UAM lead to just a single run. McGee drew a walk and stole a bag before Brandon Nicoll smoked his second homer of the season to drive in three runs. The inning featured four hits and two stolen bases.

*Nicoll snagged his second home run of the game in the sixth inning when he launched one out to left center to score two Mulerider runs. Lyles was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a McGinnis single to left field. Roubik singled through the right side to bring Lyles home and advance McGinnis into scoring position. Orr followed with a single to the pitcher that loaded the bases for a Sutton double that drove in the fourth and fifth runs of the inning.

*Allen hit SAU's third home run of the contest in the seventh inning, driving in two more Mulerider runs. Lyles followed with a double, his 10th extra base hit of the season, and Richardson drew a walk. McGinnis brought home three more runs with a home run to center field. Roubik followed with SAU's third bomb of the inning and fifth of the game.

UAM Notes

*Chaz Poppy and Cade Cancilla both recorded two hits with one of each going for extra bases.

*Five pitchers contributed to the Monticello efforts from the mound. Charles Peacock began efforts, tossing 3.1 innings where he allowed four runs on five hits. All but the Weevil's final pitcher allowed a run, with each of the four letting up at least three runs.

*The Weevils tied the game at a run apiece in the second inning when Cancilla scored on a wild pitch after doubling in his at bat and advancing to third on a Poppy single.

*UAM snagged a 3-1 lead in a third inning effort that saw just two hits. UAM runners found their way on base through an error and a single that found both in scoring position. A sacrifice effort from Kirk Woolf scored the first runner and Poppy brought home the second run when he reached first on a Mulerider error.

*Poppy recorded his second RBI of the day with a solo home run to left field in the sixth.
