SAU Set to Return to Arkadelphia for Non-Conference Action Against Henderson

Muleriders look to repeat what they did last week in Arkadelphia

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis will return to Arkadelphia on Friday, February 10 for the second time this season, this time for a non-conference matchup against Henderson. SAU made the same trip to Arkadelphia last weekend for their season-opening win over Delta State. The Muleriders will take on a 1-0 Reddie team that also opened up their season with a victory over Delta.

Sarah Roy, Lena Milosevic, Annika Berrendorf, Greta Wallin and Inna Serpukhova won at lines one, two, three, five and six in singles action against Delta while efforts from duos Milosevis and Berrendorf and Roy and Serpukhova helped the Riders claim the doubles point. Southern Arkansas was swept in both matches by DI Louisiana Tech on Sunday, though Wallin was a point away from claiming the live five set before the match was called in favor of the Bulldogs.

Henderson entered the season was a fifth-place conference ranking behind the #4 Muleriders. Six new Reddies joined the returning Mulan KamoeTirzah Bailey and Danna Nunez from the 2021-22 season. Included in the six new faces are two transferes, Haarini Balakrishnan from the University of Charleston and Marianna Murcia from Indiana Tech. Kamoe received the season's first player of the week recognition after going 1-0 at the top spot in both singles and doubles against Delta State. Kamoe entered the season as the preseason No. 44 singles player in the NCAA Division II and was tabbed alongside doubles partner Kristina Kozlova as the sixth best doubles tandem in the Central Region.

Athletes from Henderson and SAU had the chance to face off in the fall season at the GAC Individual Championships. Henderson's Jenna Kate Bohnert defeated Mulerider freshman Berrendorf 6-3, 7-5, after Berrendorf had won her first two matches in straight sets.

Friday will serve as the first of two meetings between the GAC teams this season as they will face off again in Magnolia for GAC play in April.
