MAGNOLIA, Ark – Cameron University came up on top after defeating the Southern Arkansas Mulerider Men and Women's Tennis teams with 4-0 decisions over both. SAU Women fell 6-1 to Angelo State in their afternoon matchup.

The Mulerider Women struggled from the start as Kalley Smith and Greta Wallin lost at line No. 1 doubles 6-2. Cameron also won at line No.2 against Lena Milosevic and Annika Berrendorf in a tight 6-4 decision to take the lead.

In singles play, Lena Milosevic lost a closely-contested match at line No. 2 to Anastasia Uspenskaia 6-4 6-4. Sarah Roy at line No. 1 lost against Vasilisa Polunova 6-3 6-2 giving the Aggies a 3-0 lead. SAU Greta Wallin gave the Aggies their final win after falling 6-3 6-1.

Going into the next game, the SAU Women had some momentum but fell short in a very close doubles matchup. Kalley Smith and Greta Wallin came out on top with a 6-3 win. With a loss at line two, Sarah Roy and Inna Serpukhova would have to pull through. Unfortunately the duo dropped in the tie break 7-4 gave the Rambelles the doubles point.

In singles play, Greta Wallin continued the momentum, giving SAU their only win of the day, defeating Ayda Guler 6-3 6-4. The Rambelles responded with 5 wins from lines 1, 2 , 3, 4 and 6 to win the matchup 6-1.

On the men's side, the Muleriders would battle in doubles, but the point would eventually fall the Aggies' way as they took the early 1-0 lead. After a defeat on the #1 slot, Matthew Tennant and Adrian Gheorge battled but could not close the gap late in the match and fell 6-4.

After a pair of singles matches went Aggie's way, the Muleriders stood with their back against the wall as they faced a 3-0 deficit. Needing a big rally, Tim Fischer stepped up after dropping the first set 6-4 and won the next set 6-3. The momentum dropped in the final set as he lost 6-2 to give the win to (RV) Cameron University.

Both the Mulerider Men and Women return to action Wednesday, March 1 at the Live Oak Tennis courts at 2 P.M against Tyler Junior College. Live coverage links will  be available on www.MuleriderAthletics.com.
