Box Score Magnolia, Ark – The Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis team was tested in today's game against UT Tyler at the Live Oat Tennis Courts. The Muleriders ultimately dropped the Monday match, but only narrowly losing 4-2.
Coming out strong, Kalley Smith and Greta Wallin won at No. 1 doubles by defeating the Patriots' Akshaya Suresh and Allison Schwartz 6-3. Line three struggled with a 6-4 loss, leaving line two to bring in the doubles point for the team. Lena Milosevic and Annika Berrendorf won the battle 7-5, securing the doubles point for the Muleriders.
In singles, Berrendorf picked up the only singles win by outlasting Schwartz 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 at line three. The Patriots would go on to claim four more points to win the match, however it would not be easy as the Muleriders forced a third set at line 4. Wallin battled back after a 4-6 loss in set one to win 6-3 in set two before falling 3-6 in the final set to UT Tyler's Akshaya Suresh.
Both Milosevic at line one and Roy at line two were challenged by Ross (No. 1) and Saravanan (No. 2), but did not go down without a fight. Pushing the limits of their competition, Milosevic fell 7-5, 7-6 (3) and Roy dropped 6-4 6-4 to the Patriots. Smith gave the Patriots the final point as she was edged by Khisamova 6-0 6-1.
