ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Southern Arkansas right-handed pitcher
Jeremy Adorno received another weekly honor on Wednesday morning as he was tabbed the Central Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Adorno, who was named the Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week for a program-record sixth time on Tuesday, earned his 16th career win at Southern Arkansas and first of the 2023 campaign in an impressive start against Missouri Western last weekend in Arkadelphia.
He tossed five scoreless innings of one-hit baseball with eight strikeouts and retired the last 14 batters he faced. Adorno sat down seven consecutive batters via strikeout. The eight punchouts mark the 13th time in 19 career starts that he has fanned at least seven batters in a game.
In two starts this season, Adorno is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA, a .70 WHIP and holds a 6-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
