RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southern Arkansas made the journey up north for its matchup with Great American Conference opponent, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns inside Tucker Coliseum on Sunday. The Suns handed the Muleriders their third loss of the season with a final score of 95-72. SAU now falls to 6-3 overall with a 1-3 record against GAC competition.
TOP PERFORMERS
Senior Diamond Morris made her final trip to Russellville as a Mulerider, and did so by leading her team in scoring with 15 points recorded. Morris made 66% of her shots from beyond the arc (2/3) while also making seven of her eight attempts from the stripe to assist her point total. The Sheridan, Arkansas native was also responsible for leading SAU in rebounds as she accounted for six total (2 OREB | 4 DREB). Morris was not the lone shooter from the line as Zykeria Anderson had her fair-share of free throw opportunities with all five of her shots counting. The junior was the Muleriders leader in steals once more this season as she snatched three possessions from the Golden Suns.
THE GAME
Southern Arkansas went into an arena that has proven itself against the Muleriders before and this season saw the same toughness from Tucker Coliseum that it tends to do against GAC opponents. The Golden Suns outscored SAU in each period to claim their fifth victory this season and second win in the league.
