EDMOND, Okla. – Coach
Neriah Brown's Muleriders made the trip to Edmond, Oklahoma for the Grace Shin Invitational hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma at the Golf Club of Edmond. Southern Arkansas placed 14
th at the competition with 638 total strokes (+70) on the 5,720-yard course. Over the two rounds, the Muleriders shot 312 (+28) in round one and would follow up the effort with a 326 (+42) in the second.
Sophomore
Emma Hester was Southern Arkansas' top performer as she tied for 33
rd in the 90-golfer field with 153 total strokes (78-75; +11). The Sheridan, Arkansas native recorded her fifth round this fall with a 79 or better. To aid her round one 78, Hester recorded back-to-back birdies on number 13 (par 4) and 14 (par 3). In round two, she saw a three-stroke improvement on number 11 to shoot even on the par 4 hole. Hester also shot three birdies in round two on holes four (par 4), 15 (par 4), and 18 (par 5).
Senior
Taylor Rich tied for 61
st at the competition with a count of 159 strokes (77-82; +17). Her round one 77 was supported by her couple of birdies on number eight (par 4) and 13 (par 4). In round two, Rich improved two strokes on hole 12 and shot par on the first hole (par 4).
Kelsey Saveall tied for 66
th in Edmond after she hit for 162 (77-85; +20).
Aurea Carlisle tied for 70
th with 165 total strokes (80-85; +23).
Aubrey Marx tied for 74
th with a recorded count of 166 (82-84; +24).
The Muleriders will be back in action this coming Sunday (Oct. 8) and Monday (Oct. 9) as they head to the Spa City for the Battle of the Belt hosted by Henderson State at the Hot Springs Country Club. For more information, check out
