EDMOND, Okla. – Following three top-40 finishers, the Southern Arkansas Men's Golf team obtained a top-ten finish among the 21 squads participating at the Super Regional Preview after shooting an 854 (+14) over 54 holes to finish ninth overall at the par-70, 6,944-yard Kickingbird Golf Course.
Senior
Caleb Miller recorded the highest-finish of the Muleriders after he tied for sixth among the 105 golfers at the contest. The Cabot, Arkansas native managed to shoot four-under par with a 206 (68-70-68). Miller tallied 13 birdies over the three rounds in which five were recorded on a par-3 along with shooting 30 holes for par. The senior accounted for an eagle on hole four (par-5) in the second round.
Wil Griffin II trailed Miller by eight strokes as he tied for 26
th after he shot a 214 (+4; 75-68-71) with 29 holes shot par, nine birdies, and an eagle on hole 12 in round one. In round one, he shot nine of his eighteen holes for bogey that then turned around for improvement in the second round as he only shot two holes for bogey and 12 for par.
Logan McDonald, the junior out of Bryant, Arkansas, shot 217 (+7; 72-70-75) as he recorded eight birdies in Edmond with 30 holes going for par. In the second round, McDonald shot for an eagle on hole four which he birdied the round just prior.
Senior
Connor Harrington rattled off a 220 (+10; 73-78-69) in the Sooner State as went on to tie for 51
st in the highly-competitive field. Harrington went on to record eight birdies at the competition along with 31 holes going for par. His 69 stokes in round three was the second best of the bunch just behind Miller's 68.
Will Blake finished his outing with a 229 from the three rounds to go 19 over par with a 78-75-76 over the couple days. Blake shot four birdies with three of them coming off of par-3 holes. He totaled 32 holes for par along with his birdies.
The Muleriders finished the contest as the ninth-best squad among the twenty-one talented programs at the preview. SAU finished just a stroke behind the Harding Bisons at 853 (+13; 283-282-288) while being ahead of Southwestern Oklahoma State by three strokes with an 857 (+17; 287-285-285).
The Southern Arkansas Men's Golf team will conclude the fall season next Monday-Tuesday (October 23-24) as they travel to the Tulsa Cup hosted by Rogers State at the Indian Springs Country Club.
