BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis' season came to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Muleriders suffered a 4-1 loss to top-seeded Harding in the Great American Conference Tournament semifinals.
The Muleriders jumped out front of the top-seeded Bisons as
Serena Gill and
Sarah Roy bounced Harding's line three duo of Emily Carpenter and Allison Jenkins 6-3. The point went Southern Arkansas at line one as
Kalley Smith and
Greta Wallin put away the Bisons' Allison Carpenter and Grace Dodd 6-2.
Harding tied the match at 1 after picking up the first singles point with a win at line five. The Bisons would go on to claim three more points to win the match, however it would not be easy as the Muleriders forced a third set at both lines three and six. Roy battled back after a 6-1 loss in set one to win 6-4 in set two before falling 6-2 to Romane Britt at No. 3. At No. 6, it was a 6-4 win by Smith that forced a third set against Carpenter.
Southern Arkansas' season comes to an end at 5-17. The Muleriders won a pair of conference games and knocked off a ranked opponent. Three players,
Lena Milosevic, Roy and
Simone Simas, were named All-GAC performers.
